Lauritz Kouadio

Lauritz’s journey started in December 2007 when she left IUGB for Georgia State University in Atlanta GA.  Her main goal was to complete her Bachelor Degree while maintaining high grades. The path toward that goal was full of obstacles like cultural shock, school credit issues and home sickness. However, she did not let these challenges discourage or prevent her from achieving her objectives. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2010 with a degree in Business Administration, concentration in Finance. She then worked for a year and half for a retail company as an accounting assistant.

Lauritz is now pursuing an MBA degree at Georgia State University while working as a product analyst at Halco Lighting Technologies.  After completing the MBA, she wants to acquire the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation.

Her long term goal is to help to develop the stock exchange in Abidjan. Previously the location of the only stock exchange in francophone West Africa,  the Abidjan Stock Exchange closed in December 1997. As of today, The Bourse Regionale des Valeurs Mobilieres (BRVM) serves as a stock exchange but trading is very limited and is dependent of the stock exchange located in France.

Lauritz’s objective is to create and develop an autonomous stock exchange for big and small companies in Cote d’ivoire. She wants to educate Africans, in general, and Ivorians in particular, on the advantages of owning stocks and bonds. This will increase wealth for individuals and boost the economy at the same time.
