Warm Welcome to Our New Full-Time Faculty Members

As part of its strategy to develop more the human capital capacity and ensure consistency of teaching quality, the University hired six new full-time faculty this Fall 2018 semester. Each of them brings a particular set of strengths to the teaching and research activities of IUGB. Their short biographies are given below.

Dr. Lancine COULIBALY (Ivorian) holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Wilmington University, Delaware, USA (2016), a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Laverne, California, USA (1994) and a Bachelor in Public Administration of Justice, Law, from the National University of San Diego, California, USA (1992). He was part-time faculty at IUGB. He has six years of teaching experience and more years in different administrations in Côte d’Ivoire and the US.

Dr. Lebi Jean Marc DALI (Ivorian), holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Electronic, Science & Technology of China in Chengdu (2017), both Master and Bachelor in Computer Applications from Bangalore University, India (2013, 2010) and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Valley View University, Accra, Ghana (2007). He taught at IUGB this summer and both his students and his Dean appreciated his contribution.

Dr. Mamadou Tadiou KONE (Ivorian/Canadian) holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Hokuriku (2000) and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan (1990). In his previous position, he was a Research Scientist at the International Computing Research, Montréal, Canada. He was previously Assistant Professor at Laval University, Quebec, Canada, from 2002 to 2007.

Dr. Michael BURGESS (British) was teacher of English for Academic Purpose (EAP) at the Professional Development Institute, America University of Afghanistan in Kabul. He has a Ph.D. in Educational Technology and Applied Linguistics (2016) and an MA in International Development and Education (2009) both from Newcastle University, United Kingdom. He was hired by the same university as a Research Associate, working on a range of educational projects in Latin America and Africa. He also taught EFL at a private language academy in Spain for five years and has experience in teaching and language consultancy.

Mr. Kouame KOFFI (Ivorian) holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English as Second or Foreign Language from the University-College of North Wales, Bangor, United Kingdom (1988). He has more than 30 years of teaching experience. He has been teaching English language in several schools in Abidjan including the International Community School of Abidjan and the National School of Statistics and Applied Economics. In addition to his teaching experience, Mr. Kouamé was coordinator for two national English Teaching Programs. He is co-author of Go for English (secondary school English textbooks), ANTIFLASH (exam preparation manual) and STEP (primary school textbooks), among other activities.

Ms. Susan Holt STRAND (American) has a strong experience in teaching English language. She has an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from Simmons College, Boston, MA, USA and an MS in Immunology and Infectious Diseases form Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA. She is an English Language Specialist of the US Department of State (since 2010). Ms. Strand taught English in several institutions in USA, India, Pakistan, Colombia, Chile, Afghanistan, Togo, Senegal and Burkina-Faso (since 2005).
