Following the visit of the officials of the International University of Grand-Bassam, IUGB, to his Embassy, H.E. Mr. Michael GRAU, Ambassador of Germany to Côte d’Ivoire, paid a courtesy visit on the campus of IUGB on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. His wife and the head of Economic Cooperation, Culture and Press at the Embassy accompanied him.

Mr. KOUASSI Kouamé, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IUGB welcomed the delegation. A guided tour allowed the hosts of the University to see the infrastructures and equipment of the different departments of the University.

A working session with the officials of IUGB was held in the Meeting Room. The Vice President of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmed LEGROURI gave a brief presentation on the development of IUGB since its creation.

Subsequently, His Excellency the Ambassador congratulated the university officials for the quality of the campus and the means implemented to train future African leaders. He described the activities of his Embassy and those of the various German institutions present in Côte d’Ivoire. He emphasized the possibilities offered to Ivorian universities by German institutions, such as DAAD, DFG, FHS, etc. as well as the foundations of large German companies that have an interest in the development of higher education and for scientific research. He encouraged IUGB authorities to establish partnerships with German institutions and companies. He indicated that the IUGB could count on the support of the services of the Embassy. He also promised to recommend the visit of the IUGB to the various German personalities that will visit Côte d’Ivoire.
