April 21 marked the end of a 15-year era, as Mr. Jean Dago taught his last lessons in IUGB’s University Preparatory Program. Mr. Dago was involved with the founding of the University and was one of the first instructors in the intensive English program.
Mr. Dago retired from his civil service post as an inspector of English in 2005. Since then, he has had close ties to IUGB. Hundreds of students have benefited from his courses in Academic Writing and Reading for Academic Purposes.
Mr. Dago earned his CAPES degree in 1975, and then pursued further studies in the U.K. (in Edinburgh, Manchester, and Reading) and the U.S. (University of Alabama at Birmingham). He was coordinator of the Go For English textbook writing team at the Ministry of National Education.
His colleagues and students honored him at a reception at the end of his last teaching day.
