President’s Welcome

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the International University of Grand-Bassam (IUGB), a unique, regionally-focused institution of higher learning. IUGB is an English-speaking university located in Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa). It is designed to meet the principle and accreditation standards of higher education in the United States and throughout the world. As a university of the 21st century, IUGB promotes relevance in its programs and offers a case study in transparency and accountability.

Our commitment to gender, ethnic and socio-economic diversity ensures that students of all backgrounds have equal access and opportunity to attend IUGB. Our talented international, regional and local faculty members demand high standards while encouraging supportive interactions with students.

Since April 2014, IUGB has become a degree-granting institution through its School of Business and Social Sciences (BSS) and the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Prior to that date, in collaboration with our partners: Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, University of Houston in Houston, Texas and the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, many students completed their General Education Program at IUGB and then pursued their degrees in the United States. The IUGB students now have the options of: completing their undergraduate degree in Côte d’Ivoire or taking a semester for a study abroad program.

IUGB’s core objective is to build human capital for regional economic development. Consequently, we intend to produce qualified and skilled personnel who are trained in problem resolution and intercultural cooperation.

I trust that once you learn about IUGB, you will share our enthusiasm for the future of this unique university. Please join and support us in our efforts to raise the standard of higher education in Africa. Working together, we will lead the way to a more prosperous and brighter future.

Best regards,

Saliou Touré
